Giving Day 2023: A record-breaking year!

The Wayne State University community came together in school spirit and generosity on April 13 for Giving Day 2023 - our biggest Giving Day yet! Wayne State is grateful for the overwhelming support, which surpassed all years prior. This year, 1,840 donors raised more than $1 Million to support students, faculty, research, diversity, and inclusion - which supported more than 100 causes across campus.

CHEER FOR THE CHALLENGES & CONTESTS

Throughout the day, the Wayne State community participated in W's Reels + Cheers Contest. The social media contest encouraged students, faculty, and alumni to have a coffee using a Giving Day-branded coffee sleeve from Midtown Market. They created Instagram Reels and shared photos in support of the big day. Selected participants received a $100 gift card and a $250 donation toward the Giving Day cause of their choice.

Match and challenge dollars for individual causes across schools, colleges, and units totaled more than $350K - and that number is still growing as final numbers are calculated. Wayne State donors showed that gifts of all sizes matter with more than 740 gifts under $100 donated to date.

INVITING ALL TO GIVE GREEN AND BE GOLD

Several advocates and volunteers helped boost participation and social media sharing, inviting alumni, staff, faculty, students, friends, and partners to #GiveGreenBeGold. Personal testimonies, photos, and videos across social media channels showcased worthy causes and a lot of love and pride for Wayne State.
