Abhijit Sengupta, M.S. '91, Ph.D. '93
Abhijit Sengupta, Ph.D., a federal employee currently working for the U.S. Department of Transportation, has been awarded as Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He has been awarded in recognition for sustained contributions in the theory and application of reliability and quality control in the nuclear power industry while working for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, for longtime service to the ASQ Certification process, extensive publications in support of reliability based thinking, and for continuous dedication to ASQ at the local and divisional levels.
An ASQ Fellow is an individual who has an established record of contributions, both to the quality profession and to ASQ. The grade of Fellow is an earned distinction. Achievement of this status is a symbol of respect from ASQ colleagues that has been accepted by the highest officers of the ASQ organization. Sengupta is one only two individuals worldwide to earn the distinction this year. He will be presented with his Fellow pin in conjunction with the 2018 World Conference on Quality and Improvement in Seattle.
