Detroit Historical Society Curator Joel Stone, M.A. '07 played a leading role in the DHS exhibition "Detroit '67 - Looking Back to Move Forward," which was recently named a winner of the 2018 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The award is considered the highest honor that such an organization can receive.

Stone's work on the project was beyond significant, as he worked tirelessly to curate the physical exhibit itself and edit the book Detroit 1967: Origins, Impacts and Legacies, a companion piece to the exhibit and winner of a 2017 Historical Society of Michigan State History award.

"Joel is an exceptionally talented, serious and affable gentleman, and I'm proud to be his friend and fellow Wayne State grad," said WSU professor Jeff Horner
