A very successful virtual Giving Day

On September 17, 2020, Wayne State University alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends showed amazing generosity - donating a record 1,708 gifts on our fourth annual Giving Day, for a record $720,865 raised.

In a time when we were not able to celebrate in person, strong participation from the Wayne State community bolstered deserving students, critical research and essential programs.

The total amount raised on Giving Day 2020 represents a 16% increase over Giving Day 2019. The 1,708 total gifts made surpassed our goal of 900 gifts by 52%, and 1,520 were from individual donors. More than 90% of gifts were under $1,000, totaling $196,256.

Wayne State is grateful to all who joined us through social media and Giving Day virtual events, sharing stories about why you gave. You proved that when we Give Green, Wayne State's future will Be Gold. Thank you.
