Students selected for nationwide conference
Three Honors students have been selected after a nationwide search to participate the Class of 2006 Young People For Fellowship Program. Only 165 students from campuses across the country were accepted for this prestigious summit.
Clarence Dass, Christina Safar and Rebecca Schneider will go to Washington, D.C., (all expenses paid!) in January for the National Summit for Progressive Leaders and Activists. The students were selected for the summit for demonstrating a strong commitment to progressive values, a passion for a wide range of critical issues, an inspiring sense of hope and motivation to take action toward positive social change.
During the summit, Dass, Safar and Schneider will receive training, organizational and financial support that will allow them to return to WSU to create an entrepreneurial action for social justice. They’ll learn how to build a progressive alliance on campus; start a nonprofit or campus group; create a social justice project; or start a progressive Web site or publication on campus or in the community.
