Michelle Franzen Martin manages the alumni association’s print and electronic communications, including Wayne State magazine, @ Wayne State and the organization's Web site.

She brings more than a decade of communications experience to the alumni association. Michelle began her career as a newspaper reporter before spending five years at one of the nation’s largest advertising agencies, where she was editor of a variety of magazines and custom publications. After a stint at a Detroit-based public relations firm, she joined Wayne State in 2004. In addition to her communications experience, Michelle teaches college-level journalism and English classes.

Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Wayne State, where she was a Presidential Scholar, and completed a master's degree in English at Oakland University. She is working on a Ph.D. in media studies at Wayne State.
